Record sessions

What gets recorded
When recording is enabled for a channel, every live session is captured automatically. The recording contains the mixed audio of all active speakers: host, co-hosts, guest speakers and the OBS input. Pure listeners send no audio and are never part of the recording. OpenBooth records audio only, no video.
- 02
Enable recording
Recordings are a Pro feature. In
Channel management, under Recordings, turn on the Record sessions switch per channel. Recording is off by default. From the next live session in that channel onwards it is captured. - 03
Manage recordings
Finished recordings live under
Recordingsin the navigation. There you can search, filter by channel and sort. A session in progress only appears in the list once it has ended and the file has finished processing. - 04
Play & rename
Click play and the row turns into a player. From the menu you can rename the recording or download it (see Download). Without its own title a recording uses the session title, otherwise it shows "Untitled".
- 05
Download
From the row menu or the download button you download a recording. With no translations you get a single MP3. As soon as finished translations exist, OpenBooth automatically bundles everything into a ZIP: the original as MP3, every subtitle track as
.vttin asubtitles/folder and every translated voice-over as MP3 in avoice/folder. So you never download anything one by one, a single click pulls the whole package. The file name is built from title, channel and date. - 06
Share a recording publicly
Each recording has a Public toggle. It only takes effect when the channel has Public recordings enabled under Recordings in the
Channel settings. With both on, the recording appears under Past sessions on the public channel page, where anyone can play it. If the channel has a PIN, the recording is only audible after entering it. There is no public download, and recordings are not shown in embeds. - 07
Translate recordings (subtitles & voice)
You can translate finished recordings afterwards, per language: subtitles to read along, or translated voice-over with subtitles. The cost is charged once based on the recording duration (spoken time, per language), runs in the background, and cannot be cancelled once started. Finished translations show up as a selector right in the player, everywhere the recording plays: in the Recordings list, in the session detail (analytics) and on the public channel page under "Past sessions". Listeners pick subtitle language and voice there themselves.
Note
Requirement: the AI add-ons must be activated in Billing (Wallet or BYOK). Without activated AI add-ons the Translate option does not appear. In Wallet mode you need enough balance, otherwise you can top up directly from the dialog. - 08
Storage and limit
On the Pro plan each organization has 20 GB of recording storage. You can see current usage under
Billing.Heads up
When storage is full, no new session is recorded. A recording already in progress finishes normally and is saved. Only once an admin deletes old recordings does OpenBooth capture new sessions again. While storage is full, the Record sessions switch in the channel settings is disabled. - 09
Downgrade to Free
If an organization with existing recordings moves back to Free, no streams can start while recordings still exist. An admin has to delete the recordings first. After that, sessions can start again, but then without recording.
- 10
Who can do what
Viewing, playback, download and renaming are available to any host of their own channels and to any org admin. Only an org admin can delete, not the host. When an organization is deleted, all its recordings are removed with it.

Speaker consent
Note
As the organization you are responsible for informing all speakers about the recording before it starts and, where required, obtaining their consent. OpenBooth provides the feature but does not handle informing your speakers.
